The first step is to sort plastic waste at source. Coliba Africa facilitates this process by installing accessible collection points in various locations such as schools, supermarkets, gas stations, and neighborhoods. These points allow citizens to deposit their plastic waste in a convenient and organized manner.
Coliba Africa organizes the collection of plastic waste through trained collectors and collection kiosks. These collectors, often from the informal sector, are trained to sort and manage waste professionally. The kiosks serve as additional drop-off points, facilitating access for citizens.
Collected plastic waste is taken to a recycling plant where it is transformed into recycled PET flakes (rPET). These flakes serve as raw materials for various industries, thus contributing to a circular economy.
